Haunting
The next installment of my series has arrived with the forests of “Haunting”. Based in an ash covered expanse of smoldering trees, this newest piece presents the serpentine-like beast that prowls through the remnants of vegetation. As a continuation of the concept, our ash creature acts as a neutral personification of the natural environment in which it inhabits. A mythological being that exists both physically and metaphorically to explain the phenomena and dangers relentlessly shifting through the world around us. The creature is claimed to be seen by the neighboring populations following the events of wildfire, known as a bringer of...
Following
My next piece in my nature personified series is done! I call him “Following”. Like the creature from my “Watching” painting, this legendary being acts as both a symbolic and physical manifestation of the environment it inhabits. The Follower nestles itself within the cracks of the rocky walls, almost silent, only briefly noticeable to a traveler between passing formations and shadows lurking in peripheral vision. Turn around quickly enough and maybe you’ll see him down the trail. Many have claimed to catch a glimpse amidst the rippling desert heat, though he always keeps a distance. Officially, heat stroke, dehydration, and dangerous...
Watching
He’s done! My big beautiful baby boy is finished. I’ve put a lot of work into this 20x24 painting as it holds significant meaning for me and represents my current philosophies as an artist and naturalist. This painting, “Watching”, presents a new concept regarding the personification of the natural world and its powers through mystical creatures. Beings that exist simultaneously beyond and amongst the environments they represent, acting as embodiments of traditional legend and folklore. He may seem imposing or malevolent, but like nature itself he remains neutral in all things, simply watching the lone traveler as he braves through...
Insurmountable
“Insurmountable” is a piece that was born from a frustrating attempt to make a different painting I had in mind. No matter what I did it didn’t seem right, so I flipped it, painted over it, and got this piece that I love. It’s just what I was looking for. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do!
