I’ve been missing the ocean lately and wanted to share this painting I cranked out during a house party last weekend.
Despite my love for people and the community, I am a staunch introvert who pretty quickly runs out of fuel in social settings. Being able to escape to my own world is a sometimes forgotten necessity of mine, but when I do remember to take care of myself it can be soul healing.
The ocean has always been a symbol of freedom and longing for me. It represents endless opportunity, peace, violence, and untapped mystery. My father is a professional fisherman and the extended family all live near the water, eventually we’ll return and the longing will no longer be necessary.
