My dad was a professional fisherman and outdoorsman, spending a good portion of his life chasing marlin and swordfish. He was well renowned in SoCal, everyone knew him among the docks up and down the coast. His legendary status as an angler solidified after winning the biggest fishing tournament in the world.
I’ve been planning this memorium painting since his passing, a visual commemoration of an exceptional man. Someone whose deep depths of turmoil were only matched by his love and passion. He fought his whole life against a world not meant for him, finding solace only in the wild places. We have that in common.
As one of my strongest and earliest supporters, this is likely the first of many paintings to come inspired by his life and story, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to express that.
