This new painting started off as a simple landscape study but quickly took on a life of its own. I began to love the textures, colors, and effects building on the canvas. I love mountains and the strength they possess. They tower over landscapes, imposing their rule like stern, unmoving kings.

I call this new guy “Courage”. I’m continuing on with satisfying my fascination with lighthouses and nautical/coastal scenes. I love the themes that revolve around this setting, the adventure and power is alluring. Hope you guys like it!

“Insurmountable” is a piece that was born from a frustrating attempt to make a different painting I had in mind. No matter what I did it didn’t seem right, so I flipped it, painted over it, and got this piece that I love. It’s just what I was looking for. I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do!

I really enjoy painting fire, there’s so much energy and life that I think translates well with a paintbrush. The freedom the natural world has to move and flow inspires me deeply, and I love being able to work with those concepts in my art.

I just finished this piece last week and am excited to get it to its new home! The painting process for these three canvases was difficult, it required a large amount of contemplation and pondering. I made many subtle changes throughout until I finally achieved the vision I'd been hoping for. I loved working with these colors, especially in such an expressive and loose fashion. I hope you guys like it!
