Updated Artist Statement
I am a modern romanticist infatuated with the powers and wonders of nature. Having an affinity for the natural unknown drives my artistic inspiration, as well as imagery inspired by folklore and mysticism. Exploring the dwindling connection between our modern lifestyles and the inescapable pull of mother earth, the accompanying pieces exhibit representations of the increasingly forgotten pressing power of nature, characterized by cryptid-like creatures and my own brand of calculated pointillism. These creatures stand as both physical and metaphysical examples of the environments they present, as well as embodiments of subconscious primal fears and traditional legend. They are meant to remind us, as a people, of our essential place within the natural order. No amount of separation and isolation can remove us from nature’s influence, we are all subject to the powers of mother Earth. Through my creations and brushstrokes I aim to challenge our comfortable mindsets and open perspective to a hidden yet familiar world.
